Overview/About Us

Wasatch Photonics founders are entrepreneurs and optical innovators.  With 130+ years of industry-specific experience and 80+ patents, chances are we have made holographic optics for your application or know how to create them. Our high performance Volume Holographic Optic Elements (HOEs) and gratings can be used in a diversity of industries such as fiberoptics & DWDM, defense & security, medicine, energy, computers, and electronics.

These are a few of the well known products:

  • DWDM
  • Astronomy Gratings
  • Raman Spectroscopy
  • Hyperspectral Imaging
  • LiDAR Scanners
  • Lasers: Pulse Compression & Tuning
  • Fingerprint Identification Devices
  • Solar Energy Concentrators
  • Spectrometers
    • Holographic Memory
    • Large F/1 Collection Optics:

    • Scanners/Deflectors: Bar Code, others
    • Microelectronic Optical Interconnects
    • Medical Diagnostics
    • HUDs (Heads Up Displays)
    • Night Vision
    • Head Mounted Display Systems (Goggles)

    Telecom-Grade DicksonT Gratings and Grisms
Our cutting-edge DWDM products combine ALL of the best features into ONE grating:
    • Used in 80 Channel, 50 GHz Multiplexers
    • Very Small Footprint
    • Hermetically-Sealed, Robust Packaging, Long Life
    • Low Stray Light
    • Affordable

HOEs can perform both simple and complex, highly efficient optical functions.  HOEs can also perform multiple functions simultaneously.

    • Dispersion: Separating and combining multiple wavelengths of light
    • Focusing: Emulating simple and complex lenses
    • Optical and Micro-Electronic Interconnecting: Coupling of optics-to-optics, fiberoptics-to-fiberoptics, and microelectronics-to-microelectronics can be accomplished
    • Beam Splitting: Directing a portion of a beam into a different direction from the incident beam
    • Beam Deflection: Changing a beam's direction
    • Wavefront Transformation: Changing a specific incoming wavefront into a desired outgoing wavefront
    • Filtering: Allowing only certain wavelengths above, below, or in the center of a band to go through or not go through
